Fall Racing in the Pacific Northwest

During the past few weeks, a few different races have taken place near our home in the Pacific Northwest. Both events provided an opportunity to do some action photography and practice bird panning skills on more predictable subjects.

Earlier this month, participants in the Washington Ironman event sped past our neighborhood during the bike segment of the race. A few selected images of some of the athletes are shown below. A larger selection of images from the event can also be found on my Photography Website using this link.

More recently, the Pacific Raceway hosted their second annual Pacific Raceway Invitational. A wide variety of classic and vintage sports cars compete on the 2.25 mile road course, which has featured a who’s who of international racing legends including Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, and Phil Hill. The race course was even featured in the movie “The Art of Racing in the Rain“. Clearly an appropriate title for the Pacific Northwest …. although 2022 has been one of the driest on record. A few selected images of some of the race cars are shown below. A larger selection of images from the event can also be found on my Photography Website using this link.
