Photography Travel - USA

A Sauna in Idaho ?

As noted in the previous posts, we recently completed a two week road-trip through some of the western United States. While the weather made photography somewhat challenging, we did find opportunities to capture a few images of subjects other than wildlife.

For my Finnish relatives. One place that we stumbled on was a small old historic abandoned town called Roseberry Idaho. Old, historic, abandoned. That does seem rather redundant. As noted in the sign, several Finns settled here after the Spanish American War seeking wives and fortune. When the railroad bypassed this once thriving small western town, it became obsolete … along with their fortunes. There was no mention of the wives. Now that I think about how renowned the Finns are for communication, perhaps they failed to mention it to them.

As shown in the photos below, besides seeing some very beautiful parts of our country, we also …

  • Paid our respects to Papa Hemmingway in Ketchum Idaho
  • Saw the Twin Falls of Idaho (which is much more impressive than both Peaks of Kilimanjaro)
  • Visited the Crater of the Moons National Monument
  • Hiked to Ousel Falls in Big Sky Montana (That’s a collective “we”. Molly slept in)
  • Took the quintessential photos of Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park. Again.
  • Slogged through the snow to bring you several photos for your viewing enjoyment. Enjoy !!

These areas of the United States are fantastic. I would recommend going AFTER early May. Unless you have keys to the sauna.
