One More Hike at Rainier

This week I made one more hike around Mount Rainier before the forecasted snow this weekend. The Sunrise Visitor Center is all shutdown and the signs to shut the road are at the ready. A 36 degree temperature and some pretty nasty winds seemed to keep all but a handful of hikers off the mountain. Even the herd of elk that I routinely see in the early morning were not to be found. No matter … I was able to test out a new camera backpack and enjoy taking some sunrise photos free of any potential hikers photo bombing my shots. Later in the day I found the crowds down at lower elevation around Tipsoo Lake where the fall colors were just starting to emerge. Another two weeks and the Puget Sound should be bathed in full fall colors. I’ve been scouting out some locations so stay tuned for some images.
